New Beginning, Ageless Pursuit.

Updated: Oct 21

Welcome to this space! I'm excited to share with you more of all the different ways I am growing, and more importantly, the lessons I've been learning.

In this age of digital communication, it's interesting that there is often a lot of information given to us that we have not necessarily looked for. Consider that for just a moment: a lot of the knowledge you have was not necessarily knowledge you were looking for. It is just information that you are bombarded with, and without asking for your permission many times, it just permeates into your mind. Suddenly, you possess new information—new knowledge—of things, not because you searched for them, simply by virtue of you being present in the world. That is so interesting to me!

As I began to reflect upon this, I then realized another very interesting thing: every other knowledge but the knowledge of God and of self, seems so easy to come by. Or to say it in another way: you have to seek out information of God, and truth about self. Hm.

In a general sense, all of creation is full of the glory of God. Psalm 19. Yet, to be able to know God, He does not share Himself very…easily. Relationship is a precious thing to Him, and relationship is the only access point to the knowledge of Him that is experiential—not just book knowledge. Reading the Bible and knowing of God, is very different from experiencing God and actually knowing Him. And I am finding that many claims of those saying they ‘know’ God can usually be translated to knowing ‘of’ God, not actually experience with God.

This is my deepest desire, now more than ever. I want to know God by experience. And in sharing this with you, I’m hoping that this same desire can be stirred up within you. There is always more to know!! I am so shocked at how much knowledge ‘of’ God one can have, compared to actual experience.

More and more, the rareness and value of a relationship with God is so…poignant to me as I observe the world around me, and I am understanding something that I read a while ago that I’ve kept in my heart since: “GOD LOVES EVERYONE, BUT GOD DOESN’T HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH EVERYONE.” I cannot remember who wrote this, but even now, as I share it with you, my heart is stirred again. God loves us all, it’s true! But He doesn't have a relationship with us all. And it’s not that He doesn’t want to—He cannot. Relationship has mutuality. Two cannot walk together except they agree. When I consider that, even in human relationships of different kinds, I can absolutely see the truth in this statement. And then, God takes it a step further: “If you seek me, you will find me, when you search with all your heart.” He doesn’t stop there… He adds, “Draw near to me, and I will draw near to you.” Phewww. God is extremely intentional about relationship.

To know God experientially, we must pursue Him. He hides the knowledge of Himself, so that only those who pay the price of pursuit will gain the prize of the experience. I think sometimes the idea of grace that we have has been very one-sided, in the sense that we think God will put up with us any which way we come to Him. That He has to accept our inconsistency, unfaithfulness, lack of commitment, lack of passion…just because He loves us. While His love covers a multitude of sins, His heart will not be trampled upon. And many of us have trampled on God’s heart and expected Him to still afford us intimacy in relationship when we have not shown we can be trusted to handle His heart.

I want to leave you with this thought today: can you handle God’s heart? Do you realize how precious the heart of God is? Have you ever thought about that?

In the places I have stood, by the grace of God, I have had a taste of not being able to share burdens with people because they couldn’t handle it. I have often longed to open up about certain thoughts and cares on my heart, but known I couldn’t do so because the person or people hadn’t gained that level of intimacy with me. In the same way, I also know what it is like to share deep things with someone, only for them to disregard it or not consider it. It makes you ask, what was the point of sharing?

God is searching for one man…someone to stand for Him. Someone to consider His desire, and to stand for that, truly for God’s sake. My heart burns to be one that the Father can share His burdens and desires with, so that His desires would be fulfilled through my life. Can you be that one? Wherever you are, would you begin to pursue to know God’s wishes for the people and places you are connected to? May we truly be the generation that seeks His face, and finds Him, because our hearts are burning for Him.

Until next time, in His love, be blessed!
